Matt is a resident of Albemarle.  He is an artist, musician, storyteller and historian with an emphasis on Native American culture.  His name in Cherokee is Wa-Lo-Si Equa, which means Big Frog.

Stories that are told are sometimes very true, and sometimes they are legends that date back to be thousands of years old.  Matt tells his own story growing up Indian as well as the stories of his ancestors.  He also talks about the myths of Indian lore and facts that all should know about the Native Culture.

WaLoSi is also a maker and performer of the Native American flute and is always ready to demonstrate this wonderful instrument.  “There is no greater struggle in one’s life than the unknowing of who one really is and where they come from.”
